Fresher's Week, Friends and TV LICENSE!

Sweet Jesus, that was a long process!

Might I just say to everybody trying to buy a TV license online from their Uni campus that so long as your internet isn't shit, like the Harrow Campus' access has been in the past few days, then you'll be fine. Mine took a fair while to sort out and now I should be able to watch the 'tellybox' in a totally legal context without being put in the clink. It refused my application via debit card so I had to opt for direct debit instead, which I will have to keep my eye on because it means that it will be taken from my account annually.

But as for not so silly-expensive-for student things, they are going well.

Since arriving on Saturday I have made a fair few new Bernard Chumlies and this is really the first opportunity I have had to write a Blog Entry. Saturday Night after the whole moving shenanigan, I went down the Junction with my new chums to have a few drinks which was fun. Sunday I went to Camden with the same group and on Monday I Enrolled and got my Student Card and met the tutors. So at least now I have some idea of what I'm going to be doing for the upcoming Semester. Besides drinking. Lots. Ah, the Student Life. Nothing financially rapes you more than your TV license though. £131.50 *shudder*.

I don't know what will be happening today yet though. Everyone else seems to have plans with their subjects, whereas I do nothing like that until Monday.

How to set up a Natwest Student Account (Concluded)

Step 1: After initial application, await arrival of your Natwest Debit Card in the post as you would with another highstreet bank such as Barclays. You can expect to receive your bank details, online banking details, cheque book etc. within the next few days.

Step 2: After discovering you must collect your debit card from your local branch two days before moving to Uni, begin to panic. Go to your local branch to get your card.

Step 3: Learn your local branch doesn't actually have your card, and has in fact sent it to the regional office, in this instance, Cambridge. Drive to Cambridge.

Step 4: Join a cue of fellow students who, as it happens, have all encountered the exact same problem. Wait 15 minutes and you may or may not receive your card.

Step 5: Activate your card. Congratulations, you now have full access to your Natwest Banking facilities.

NOTE: Setting up online banking was easy, so I you've got to give them some credit.

Initiate five day silent countdown...

Five days left until I move into Harrow Halls. It's a scary concept. That and 19 is going to be a scary age to be. I am 19 tomorrow which is why I bring it up. Oh le horreur!

Yesterday was my last day at the Spar. I had a nice leaving present though, so to speak. Training the lovely Yvette. She's a lovely girl she is. I will say nothing more than that though for fear that someday, someone, somewhere will read this and tell Yvette or her Dad who just happens to be my Dads business associate. Which is kind of crappy. But at least the last four hours wasn't boring, she's nice to talk to and a fast learner.
